The West Bengal Government has promised the poor Muslim community of West Bengal to have a quota in the government jobs. According to the present chief minister of the state Mr. Buddha Dev Bhattacharya said that his government will complete the process of identification of 1 crore (OBC) Muslims who covers a substantial portion of 25% of Bengal’s population.

The Buddha Dev government is now committed to the poor Muslim community belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) for providing them the benefit of reservation in the government jobs from the early days of this June (2010).

As per CM Buddhadev, his government has tried to fullfill the Rangnath Mishra Commission’s concern about providing 10 percent reservation to the poor Muslims in the government job.

By this June 2010, 1 crore Muslims will enjoy their long waited reservation in government jobs.

It is worth mentioning here that it is very interesting to note that Mr. Buddhadeb has taken a complete U-turn from his previous mood of reservation on the same issue. Previously, he himself was against Muslim reservation despite pressure from a section of the Communist Party of India-Marxist and the Left Front.
