Savings of approximately £ 220 million in next 4 years will lead to 1,000 jobs out of the place, has planned by Sheffield City Council, UK.

Undoubtedly the impact of job losses on that large scale will fall directly towards the employment prospects in the city, recently commented by the GMB, a leading Trade Union and major Labor donor.

In this context GMB, UK’s leading Trade Union, has warned and pointed out this huge level of savings will cost more than thousand jobs and will offer a major blow to the employment scenario of the region. Tim Roache, the GMB official who also says that there is no point of trying to dismiss this figure.

In response the Council has assured the job protection and services though they also openly declared that presently the Council is running through an economic challenge and significant savings in the next few years is the necessary step to cope up this major problem and they are on the verge on this tough decision. They also added that presently they cannot categorically point out the level which will further affect the man power. Everything will be informed to them as soon as the Council will be deciding any major changes to their terms and conditions. Therefore, to be fair and ethical towards its employees, the Council believes in discussing the proposals with its staffs.

Sheffield City Council has showed its disappointment and pointed out GMB for scaremongering the staffs which are not based on any discussion.

Here, the Council has informed that since July it has been going through regular meetings and discussions with the trade unions in every two weeks and have shared important management proposal and decided to continuing this vital discussion with them before coming to the final verdict.
